Character Name: Pasqua Solanáscea
Age: early 30s
Hometown: Erding, Urdania
Specialties: Botany primarily, and any other realms of knowledge that touch it, to a lesser degree. Including but not limited to: alchemy, chemistry, geology, genetics, microbiology, biology, mycology, history, politics, and just enough tech to get herself into trouble.
Weaknesses: Pasqua, like any other self-respecting scientist, considers her work crucial to society at large. Therefore, she is exceedingly careful about how she runs her professional and personal lives. While she enjoys socializing and highly values community, her time in Urdania has taught her it’s always best to have a cascade of backup plans. She’s reluctant to build relationships with anyone she feels she can’t tear down easily enough. Crowds and loud noise are really unpleasant too.
In a place like Urdania, where the availability of needs is limited and people can be quick to turn on each other, Pasqua is obsessed with planning for every eventuality. She's seen one too many communities slip and fall into oblivion because a couple of things just didn't work out. We weren't built to live this way. We need to support each other and act as a community, she believes. It's hard to do that though when your basic needs aren't getting met. She's always been good at single-mindedly keeping to a task for years on end, so she figured she'd put her mind to the second most important need of all: food (first being water).
Pasqua became a botanist to try and figure out how to make the most of the land. It's not just out of need, though. She has a big appreciation for food and drink. While she carefully guards her work, when a technique or discovery is ready to be shared, she's just as careful about getting the information out faster and farther than anyone can control it, in the hopes that the information won't be hoarded.
As a resident of Erding, she recognises the mountain spirits and respects their presence. However, the god she prays to, her guiding light, is Death. She fervently believes that to make discoveries regarding growth and life, she must understand death and decay. Besides, she doesn't like the idea of establishing a relationship with a god that has all the answers. The power imbalance. She'd always be in their debt, for any guidance, any answer. A god that can't help directly is hopefully more forthcoming. Especially one as reviled as Death.
